The members of Her Campus celebrated the beginning of their new contributing chapter to Sacred Heart University at a launch party this past week.
“The launch party had a very feminine twist to it with all pink decorations, which mirrors the theme of Her Campus,” said junior Jenna Sheridan, who attended the launch party on Tuesday April 17.
Her Campus is an online magazine that includes topics such as fashion, love, and health. According to hercampus.com, the magazine has more than 3,000 writers from 200 different campuses.
“My most recent article was on fashion iPhone apps and that was actually my first article because Her Campus just launched on April 9,” said junior Samantha Brunetto, who is a writer for Her Campus.
Brunetto who was at the event last Tuesday was also raffling off tickets to Palm Beach Tan of Milford where she works.
“The raffling tables were really cute at the event. I loved the shoptique and jewelry stands,” said Sheridan.
The launch party also offered a light pink back drop, where you could pose for photos in pink boas, mustaches, cowgirl hats, sunglasses and more. The attendees also got to enjoy salad, pizza and pink cupcakes with refreshments.
On top of the fun celebration at the Her Campus launch party, the magazine was also a topic of discussion.
“I am a writer and I edit the campus archives section,” said freshman Taylor Krol.
Every writer for Sacred Heart Her Campus gets to write for all of the sections that it has to offer.
“I am a writer and the style section editor. I proofread the articles, make notes and then send it over to Taylor,” said freshman Wendi Westmark, who was also an attendee.
Many girls of Sacred Heart University are involved with Her Campus. Taylor Lane is the president and founder, Dana Maltese is the events manager, Maddy Murcott is the publicity manager, and Amy Nunes, Jessica Schild, Taylor Krol, Wendi Westmark, Francesca Mainella, and Valentina De Santis are section editors, who are all accompanied by many other writers from Sacred Heart.
“Some of the topics that you can expect to see frequently in Her Campus are campus cutie, campus celebrity, and campus blog,” said Brunetto.
“Meet Our First Campus Cutie: Ryan Charamut” and “Campus Celebrity: Faith Westdyk” were two articles featured in the first Her Campus issue of Sacred Heart.
Her Campus debuted online for Sacred Heart on April 9 and within the first week of its launch the website received about 900 views.
According to the about us section of hercampus.com, members of the Her Campus team have been offered jobs and internships with Glamour, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar, The Huffington Post, InStyle, along with many other infamous magazines and newspapers.
“I know Her Campus is also a part a lot of other schools like Villanova, but I am just glad I got to be a part of it at Sacred Heart,” said Brunetto.
