Have you ever had a really bad day where nothing went right?

Your iPod is not working or your computer keeps crashing. Some days it seems is though no one can have it worse than you.

Some days it seems as though no one can have it worse than you.

But imagine growing up during a civil war that has been going on for over 20 years where you travel miles every night to avoid being abducted by a member of the rebel army.

For the children of Uganda this is a normal life style.

The Campus Ministry at Sacred Heart is running a campaign to help the children of Uganda who are in need.

"Our goal is to create awareness about the situation for children living in Uganda. We hope to inform people as well as raise money for the cause," said president of Peace by Justice senior Melissa Allen.

"Throughout the year our club has worked on a number of different projects. At this point we have begun to generate some interest in the cause by getting out some general information about the children in Uganda and what they are going through."

Students seem to be responding very well to the campaign.

"I am really glad that Sacred Heart community is becoming more globally aware," said sophomore Philip Farrely

Campus Ministry has big plans to raise awareness and money throughout the campus. They will be holding a weeklong campaign event that will take place in the near future.

"We will dispense information through flyers, table tents, and balloons. As a club we have also made hemp bracelets that will be sold on campus in order to raise money for the cause," said Allen.

At the end of the week the club will be showing a film that illustrates some of the many problems the children of Uganda face on a regular basis.

Some Sacred Heart students are opposed to the campaign because they feel that this cause should not a major priority.

"Why don't they focus on the hungry kids here in America first before focusing our resources in other places," said junior Mike Brancatto.

"I am on the fence about the whole situation," said freshman Amanda Parker.

"Although, I like the idea of helping people I don't see why we are focusing on this specific cause when there are so many issues we have to deal with here in America."

For the most part though, the majority of students on campus are for the cause.

Junior Tim Sherry said, " I think it is a very admirable cause-my cousin sponsors a child in Uganda. I have seen the pictures and you can really see the difference you make in these children's lives.

"I think it is a very noble deed. Sacred Heart is committed to outreach and serves a greater purpose than just education," said senior Carl Yacoub.
