On Monday, Mar. 31 at 6 p.m. there will be a fashion panel in the William H. Pitt Center Board Room at Sacred Heart University.
Various people from the fashion industry will be coming to speak and answer questions for those interested in pursuing internships and potential jobs after graduation.
Career development and the fashion club are co-sponsoring this event for fashion lovers and those interested in the diverse fashion world.
"This is the time for students to come and see the different avenues in fashion," said Elizabeth Lowery, assistant director of career placement. "From the actual industry, to design, public relations, retail management and more, there is so much to pick and choose from."
From the wide array of jobs in this business, students are able to gain a better understanding of the possibilities for a career. This event will provide them with information they previously may not have known.
"It's going to be an exciting event," said Lowery. "With the wide range of companies there, we can attract all different students."
Currently there are nine representatives that are part of the panel. Each may be asked questions by students and in return they will answer and provide additional input on a specific topic of discussion. They will also explain their role in the fashion industry.
According to Heather Marchand, assistant director of career placement, this is a good event to come to because students can "branch out and learn about different industries."
The variety of jobs each representative holds is helpful because it will be a good chance for people to understand more about the particular field.
"Students will come for different reasons," said Marchand. "Those interested in the glamour and design to the more realistic in relation to student's majors and skills."
A direct fashion related major is not part of the Sacred Heart University program. However, according to the university's Web site there are many majors that fit the same roles the panel members have as a personal career.
