First it was Britney Spears, then it was Hilary Duff, and now it's Miley Cyrus. Better known as her character Miley Stewart on the hit Disney show "Hannah Montana," Cyrus has become the next new sensation coming out of the Disney channel.
Only 15 years old, Cyrus has become the new overnight sensation who has begun to expand her popularity from just a simple character in a Disney channel show to a pop singer and movie star. Her Hannah Montana character has become the new icon for young girls.
Her hit single "See You Again" is currently number seven on iTunes top songs, and her music video "Start All Over" is currently at number eight on iTunes top music videos.
"I like her single, it's really catchy and has a lot of energy," said sophomore Stephanie Reyes.
Cyrus' Disney show has become a huge success. The show is about a young girl who leads a double life, one as an ordinary girl by day, and a famous pop singer by night.
Originally she was told she looked too young for the part of Hannah Montana, and Disney was uncertain if they wanted to hire the young actress/singer. After many auditions and hard work, Cyrus finally got the part she desperately wanted. It turned out to be a successful decision for Disney.
While Cyrus' fame is new and growing, she is still just an average every day teenage girl.
Cyrus and her best friend Mandy Jiroux even have a YouTube account, where they uploads her own show called the "Miley and Mandy Show" where Cyrus and Jiroux are filmed doing every day things that teenage girls do.
Their account currently has over 21,000 subscribers; which shows how Cyrus can make a simple YouTube account and still turn it into a hit.
While many just know her as her Hannah Montana, she actually has been in other small roles in big pictures. She played young Ruthie in Tim Burton's film "Big Fish," and made a guest appearance with her father on the television show "Doc."
Cyrus is the daughter of well known country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who she has sang along with in many duets, making music an important part of her life.
"I was singing on the stage with my dad when I was two years old. I would sing 'Hound Dog' and silly songs for the fun of it.," said Cyrus in an interview with the San Diego Union Tribune.
