She Said: Are we living in a 'man-boy' era?

Growing up Generation X. It makes a big difference in more aspects of life than people care to admit. Especially among the men, or should I say boys?
Think back to the days of your grandparents. Its not that long ago, yet everything was so different from what it is today. You ask someone from the "baby boom" generation what it was like to date, and their stories will be much different than your own experiences.
Men from generations before were often quick to open doors and be respectful towards both women and those who were older than them. They were brought up knowing that that was the way you were supposed to act.
Back to today, it's almost impossible to find a guy who acts that way all of the time. The culture and what it views as acceptable has changed so much that it is not unheard of for boys today to openly talk about sex and alcohol.
This may not necessarily be a bad thing though. If you take a look at television shows from the 1950's, the men were the dominant figures. They took care of the women, but in return, the women had almost no say in many of the things that went on.
The men have changed so much from what they once were, yet so have the women. Boys today may be much more immature than what used to be considered normal, but the country is a different place.
Growing up in a time like now, it is hard not to see sex and things that were once considered taboo all around you. If you don't adapt, it will be you who misses out on all the great things of the times.
However immature your brothers, boyfriends, or friends may be to you, they grew up being taught it was okay to act this way. And personally, I think that it is.
