Not going away to many of the sunny vacation spots such as Cancun, Hawaii, Florida or the islands for spring break? Don't worry, you're not the only one stuck in the winter weather this year.

Though spring break is a big deal on many college campuses, a good deal of school organizations, sports teams, or just loyal employees, are not able to break free of the cold weather for that one week.

Because of the start of March Madness, the basketball team is required to stick around, depending on if they have made it to the playoffs, and this year they have.

"For the past couple of years we have made it to the NEC playoffs so our entire break is taken up with practice and games. Most of us just stay on campus to stay focused and hang out together as a team. There is not much to do as everyone has gone for the break," said junior Liam Potter.

"I know I can speak on behalf of the team when I say we would rather obviously be here and win a championship and miss out on partying or having fun like the majority of the rest of the student body does during the break."

Along with the basketball team, the pep band is also asked to stay on campus for a majority of the break.

"I'm not going away for spring break this year because I have to be here on campus to play with the pep band," said sophomore Aimee Boisvert, "so that will take up most of my time during the week."

When not on campus for their required events, most students will be taking trips home to visit with family, and friends if their vacations are concurrent.

"When I'm not at school, I'll most likely just be spending time at home and with my family. Most of my friends have different breaks, so I won't be able to see many of them," said Boisvert.

Just because spring break is not a possibility for you this year, does not mean that that week has to go to waste complaining about there being nothing to do.
