Over a year has gone by since the last one of Martin Lawrence's? hilarious comedies was released. Thankfully for anticipating fans, his new movie "Welcome Home ?Roscoe Jenkins," came out on Friday.

In the past ten years, Lawrence has come out with some of comedy's most? entertaining movies such as, "Bad Boys," "Blue Streak," and "Big Mamma's? House."

With his vivacious and outrageous style, Lawrence's over-the-top ?humor has become ingrained in the comedy world.

Starting out doing? comedy bits to cheer up his mother, Lawrence has made it into the "ring ?of kings," performing alongside comics like Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, and Chris Tucker in HBO's "Def Comedy Jam" and the "Kings ?of Comedy."

In the new family classic, "Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins," Lawrence ?plays a successful millionaire, talk-show host from LA who is returning ?home to visit his crazy southern family in order to prove to them he is? not the same dimwitted child they used to bully.

While at home for his ?parent's 50th wedding anniversary, old relationships are rediscovered? and the realization and importance of his family make him understand the ?true meaning of home.

"He is a really good actor, and an even better comedian. I didn't know ?he had a new movie coming out, but I will definitely go see it," said? sophomore Jonathan Nowak.

This represents the type of fan base that ?Lawrence has as an entertainer and the affect that he has on his crowd. ??

Behind all of the one-liners and quirky-cool behavior, Lawrence has a? real connection with his career in comedy and sees himself as an artist. ?

"I don't want to sound facetious, but humor is the key to the soul,"? said Lawrence in a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine. "I go ?into a different place in my mind when I'm up there, and it feels like I? am somewhere else, it's powerful."??

Although stand-up comedy is Lawrence's safe haven and where he started? out doing comedy, he stepped out of his pre-determined boundaries and ?into the spotlight taking lead roles in huge blockbusters like the "Bad? Boy" movie franchise. The franchise grossed almost $30 million in its first week, only? to be doubled by the sequel eight years later.

Since he started making ?movies, everything Lawrence has touched turns to gold. His? impersonations and countless number of made-up characters give him an ?extra edge that adds to his repertoire of jokes.

The characters that he ?has created through the years, from family, friends, or just from his ?imagination, have made him a three dimensional comedian, which gives him? a greater diversity as both an actor and comedian. ??

"Wam, Bam, thank you officer!" said junior Daniel Strong when asked how he felt about the new Martin? Lawrence movie, or the actor in general, he simply replied with this favorite? Lawrence quote from the movie "Blue Streak," in which Lawrence plays a ?jewel thief acting as an undercover cop.
