Sponsored by Student Government and the College Republicans, John McCain is making an appearance at Sacred Heart University in the University Commons at 1 p.m. on Feb. 3.
Joining McCain will be Senator Joe Lieberman and Congressman Christopher Shays.
According to www.JohnMcCain.com, McCain was first elected into the House of Representatives in 1982 from Arizona and then was elected to the United States Senate in 1986. McCain attended college at the United States Naval Academy and after graduation he had a career as a naval aviator for 22 years.
McCain served in the Vietnam War where he survived many near death experiences. In 1967 he was a prisoner of war. When he was finally able to return home years later, McCain continued to serve the Navy.
In 1981 he retired from the Navy, leaving with naval honors such as the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Legion of Merit, Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
In the 2000 Republican Primary, McCain's "Straight to the Point" campaign fell abrubtly short of its objective. So, the Arizona senator was forced to wait in the rafters and applaud for his GOP representative and soon to be 43rd President of the United States, George Walker Bush.
Now, as a Republican candidate for the 2008 presidential election, McCain plans to solve many issues in the United States, such as help the economy, cut taxes, lower health care, and plan strategies in order to win the war in Iraq.

Hey how come we get McCain a pro-war candidate on campus? Let's get Clinton and Obama. I'll bet our faculty is more liberal than conservative. The administration is obviously conservative. (Continued…)
