Textbooks.
No big deal, just another item on a college student's expense list.
All over the country students have been looking for a way to beat the textbook buying blues and Kyle Livesey of Kean University has created the solution.
CollegeAdBoard.com is a place for students to buy, sell and trade their used books.
Although CollegeAdBoard.com was not officially launched until December 2007, it has expanded from not only featuring school based products, to now offering opportunities to find everything from cars to appliances.
"CollegeAdBoard.com is a place where students can buy, sell or trade just about anything," said Livesey.
Sacred Heart students already turn to discount websites to purchase their textbooks including amazon.com and eBay.com. Some continue to find it most convenient to consult their school's bookstore, but all students, without a doubt, want to save money and time.
This is where Livesey's Website comes into play.
"I started the Website because I was sick of being ripped off by the campus bookstore," said Livesey.
He uses as an example how a book he paid $140 for was only being bought back for $20 in perfect condition, a common complaint of college students.
By establishing a location where students could communicate with each other, the bookstore inflation was eliminated.
"If students know about this website it can be very helpful to buy or sell any item they might need and make (them) some money while in college," said Matt Telvi, junior.
Livesey includes an element of convenience that the larger Websites lack: quick and easy to navigate and membership is free.
Students can choose to browse by school or by item. They can also select the option of buying, selling or trading.
Additionally, Livesey has included every university across America in his database so that students can communicate with others who have had the same classes and used the same texts.
