The Red Wave swept over Harbor Yard for the highly anticipated double-header games against Fairfield University.

On Sunday, Nov. 18 the Sacred Heart Pioneers attempted to "Bag a Stag" as they took on Fairfield University at the Arena at Harbor Yard.

The Sacred Heart University band, dance team and cheerleaders led the crowd with 'Go Heart' music and cheers.

The flood of red which filled the Sacred Heart section of the bleachers engulfed Harbor Yard with Pioneer pride.

Shaun Mitchell, vice president of the senior class, said the game was enjoyable, on behalf of our student government that brought everyone together.

"The game was great because it brought our school together and although there was a rivalry with Fairfield, there was also an acknowledged respect for the sport and just having a good time," said Mitchell.

On the opposing side and dressed in all white, was the Fairfield University fans who represented their school along with their Stag mascot, university band, dance team and cheerleaders.

Freshman and senator of the 2011 class, Chris Daly was in full support of getting the student body together.

Our school excelled in cheering and everyone seemed to have a great time, said Daly.

"I can tell that the freshman will definitely be back for a lot more games, so this was a success for sure."

School spirit started way before the game on Sunday.

Big Red made appearances down the halls and classrooms of Sacred Heart University, passing out flyers to remind students about the game.

Matt Telvi, president of the student body, sent out global emails inviting students to the pre-game party hosted by student government in Hawley Lounge on game day.
