It's the most wonderful time of the year.
With the holiday season right around the corner, it is difficult to afford the latest gadgets and trends for everyone on your Christmas list with the little money that you are able to save while going to school.
"I'd love to be able to get something for all the girls I live with as well as all my friends at home," said junior Alexandra Rodriguez.
"But it's hard to try and get nice things for everyone with the things they want being so expensive."
It is situations like this when "Secret Santa" can be quite helpful. The idea of secret santa is for all members involved to write down their names on a piece of paper and mix them up. Once that is done, all members pick a name and that is whom they will need to buy a gift for.
In colleges, more specifically Sacred Heart, the housing situations can leave up to 12 people living together. This is common in both Roncalli and Christian Witness Commons, where there are six bedroom suites, with two, sometimes three to a room.
While living with 11 other people can be entertaining at times, it can also leave quite the hole in your wallet around the holidays.
This is why "Secret Santa" is not an uncommon alternative around campus.
"'Secret Santa' is a much better idea than having to buy individual gifts for everyone. There are 11 girls in the suite, it would be too expensive to get each girl a gift but this way there is a price limit, and everyone can get one gift that they really want," said sophomore Katie Maguire.
"I think 'Secret Santa' also helps so that no one feels left out, everyone gets the same amount of presents."
"On the day we exchange our gifts we have a small cocktail Christmas party, which is cheap and fun," senior Alex Volpe.
With Christmas being less than a month away, it is no surprise that flyers and commercials are being seen everywhere.
One important thing people need to take advantage of is the information in these advertisements.
