Looking for a place where "good food, good music and good vibes" come together as one? Check out the Acoustic Café in Bridgeport.
Whether you're longing to sing along to the blues, folk, and bluegrass or even if you're more the type for the jam-band and rock scene, the café offers a variety of musical selections to accommodate many tastes.
According to its website, "small cafe tables, dim lighting, funky wall art, an intimate vibe, and a full bar and light fare menu make the Cafe reminiscent of a NYC Greenwich Village night club," making the café located at 2926 Fairfield Avenue in Bridgeport, a close option for a musical evening out.
The venue also hosts occasional comedy nights along with a Fairfield County Weekly sponsored monthly series: "Beer and Poetry."
According to Fairfield County Weekly's reader poll, the café was voted "best place to hear alternative music" three years in a row.
CulinaryMenus.com indicates that the café seats about 80 people and offers a "light fare" menu running from wraps, salads and deserts, to a wide selection of teas, shakes and smoothies, coffee, beer, wine and much more.
"I love the fact that the cafe doesn't just offer a variety of music but different beverages and snacks as well. It beats the stereotype of a cafe only catering to just one genre by catering to many," said junior Sarana Hyatt. "The café's 'homey' feel as well as their support of artists by allowing them to rehearse and record at the café if they want to, is part of its intimate appeal."
The café opens one hour before advertised show times and closes at 1 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays but stays open until 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. The venue is closed on Mondays and non-show days.
Ticket prices typically range from $4 to $13 depending on the artist and the night. A calendar on the café's website outlines upcoming events as well as specific prices and age restrictions.
Along with providing entertainment to the general public during the week and on weekends, the café can be booked for private parties, rehearsals and recording sessions.
"The café provides the area for diverse thoughts and expressions. It quenches both our need for expression and need for something a little a sweet at the end of the day," said Hyatt.
