The Goehring Evans Productions presents Dead Man Talking in a one night only benefit performance in the Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts on Nov. 15 at 8 p.m.

This comedic theatrical performance stars Ken Richters as Mark Twain.

The story line takes place on April 21, 1910 as the famous author, Mark Twain, finds himself confused at the gates of Heaven, defending his life.

"This will be the first [benefit performance] for us in collaboration with Goehring Evans Productions," said Brendan Lynch, marketing director of the Edgerton Center for the Performing Arts.

Ken Richters reveals his awarding winning performance by himself.

"What Ken Richters has is a one man show. He's taking that [one man show] piece and giving it form. He's been very successful in his previous performances. It's basically still a one man show-primarily Ken," said Lynch.

Dead Man Talking is a funny, thought provoking, and occasionally politically incorrect production that is based on the life and works of Mark Twain, according to the Dead Man Tour official website.

"It will leave the audience with the feeling you've met the man behind the words - you have met Mark Twain."

There have been rave reviews on television and in newspapers about Dead Man Talking.

According to the NBC Today Show, "He brings America's most celebrated humorist out of the pages and into the flesh once more."

The New Haven Register describes Ken Richters as Mark Twain as "a wild, wonderful, witty old man" and "a timeless brand of American humor."

The Edgerton Center offers year-round professional shows for families, but this will be the first year that the performances will be more targeted for an older audience.

The Edgerton Center will be hosting two benefit performances throughout the year, Dead Man Talking being the first one and The Masters of Comedy, presented by the Laugh Factor that will be held on Friday Nov. 23.

Tickets for SHU students and employees are $20 dollars. They can be obtained by calling the box office as (203) 371-7908, or by visiting the Edgerton Center's website www.edgertoncenter.org.
