On those cold and isolating days, hungry college students look towards other resources for food when the main campus cafeteria is snowed in.
"I cook by myself" said Takuya Yamashita, a sophomore from Tokyo Japan. "My favorite grocery is Trader Joes."
"[Typically] the diner or the mall" said Tarra Husain, a sophomore from Mt. Kisco NY.
"Usually I'll try and make dinner if I'm not eating out" said Maria Ferrucci, a senior from Branford Conn, "or I'll have picked up frozen dinners from the store and eat those. On the rare occasions where I will go out it's usually to the mall food court or
ordering out for Chinese food."
"I'm just glad that I live at home so I don't have to worry about all that," said Kruti Naik, a senior from Mumbai India.
Many students prefer to eat in their homes rather than venture out to eat, especially when the whether takes a turn for the worst. When asked a lot of students agreed that take out food was one of the easiest ways to obtain nutriment. On occasion, some students find themselves preferring to cook.
"More often than not I'll eat at the apartment," said Ferrucci. "If it's Chinese food then I'll usually order from China King. Pizza places vary, but I'd probably pick Pizza Mediterranean."
"Chinese restaurant and Subway once in a while" said Yamashita.
"New China" said Husain. "I can cook, but do not cook."
"I love to cook Italian and Japanese food," said Yamashita.
"Pasta or Mac and Cheese..." said Naik, "the stuff that requires the least effort."
"I make all different kinds of stuff from chicken, pork, beef, vegetables, sauces and pasta, Mac and cheese or soups" said Ferrucci.
When asked if students found themselves eating a lot of the same food most replied yes though some had other thoughts.
"When I eat at school, my life turns into the movie Groundhog's Day" said Husain.
"Not really...the perk of living at home" said Naik.
