She Said: From Bucky to Big Red

Over the last few months I've received countless e-mails alerting me that "Big Red" was coming. What exactly Big Red was, I had no idea, all I knew was that it was going to be here soon. It turns out that Sacred Heart was revealing a new mascot. Much like the new chapel, it was just what this school needed.

School mascots remind me of high school football games, cheerleaders, and chilly fall nights. It might even remind me of a mustang costume that I once dressed up in during my senior year of high school. But a mustang is extremely different from our former mascot, Bucky.

Bucky was, I'm guessing, a man? With a Davey Crocket hat? I'm pretty sure that's why they gave Bucky the boot, because no one had any idea what exactly he was. And thinking back, I never really even saw Bucky at any of our athletic events. Was this school just that ashamed of Bucky so they kept him away? Well thank god for Big Red.

From the looks of it, this new pioneer, Big Red, is scary. All the hype SHU gave this character only lead me to believe that it was going to be a monstrosity.

When I think of Big Red, Red Foreman comes to mind. Yeah, the dad from that 70's show. He was a stern and grouchy man, but he was funny. Why don't we just have a large poster of him hanging up in the Pitt? Would Red Foreman make people want to paint their faces? Oh yes, I think he would.
