The new SHU mascot was unveiled this past Saturday at the women's basketball game against Robert Morris.
The Pack the Pitt event helped set an attendance record for a women's basketball home game.
The new mascot is a wonderful idea and should help market Sacred Heart athletics. The mascot looked fantastic and it would be great if it is used as the SHU's logo.
The current logo, the shield, is a very nice emblem; however, it is not marketable for sports. If the new mascot is used as the logo for sports teams it will greatly increase the marketability of both the school and the athletics department.
The new mascot outfit has been vastly improved compared to the old costume. The cartoon inspired mask is also a great addition.
The Pioneer finally gives meaning to the Sacred Heart Pioneers. The mascot is great for student support and fan loyalty as well. The new mascot will give the students something to relate to.
The Pioneer will instantly increase attendance at every event where he is present. The mascot also provides another dimension to athletic support as he has the ability to get the crowd into the game providing the home court advantage. The idea of a mascot helps to create the college atmosphere which every fan looks for at a NCAA event. This mascot will only help Sacred Heart to continue to grow and make a name on the national scale.

Cornell is "Big Red"

Did it occur to you folks that "Big Red" belongs to Cornell University? As a matter of fact, Cornell athletics even has a web site known as CornellBigRed. (Continued…)
