When getting ready to go to the gym it is important to make sure you have your running shoes, a bottle of water and of course, your I-Pod.

Headphones are on and the music is playing, but what songs are getting students pumped at the gym?

"The new Fall Out Boys pumps me up, 'This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race'," said Matt Doino, junior, Valley Stream, N.Y. "I also listen to anything 80s, I love 80s, I love Metallica. It also has to be rock-no rap, no metal, no hip-hop."

Whether you're running on the treadmill or lifting weights, it's important to stay "fueled" while exercising.

"I usually like an angry song like 'Fuel' by Metallica or a happy rock song like 'Day Tripper' by the Beatles," said Dan Hopkins, junior, New Fairfield. "I can't workout to emo music or pop because there is something about 12-year-old music that just doesn't get the pump going on. I need good rock n' roll."

Listening to music while working up a sweat does not only help the time go by faster, but helps keep students motivated as well as entertained.

"I always listen to O.A.R 'Love and Memories' when I work out," said Caroline Seiter, sophomore, Centerport, N.Y. "They're my favorite band so they make me really happy whenever I listen to them."

Many students may dread going to the gym and have to physically drag themselves up to the Pitt Center, however, listening to some good tunes may be all it takes to be put in a good mood about exercising.

"I listen to The Veronica's 'Forever' when I work out," said Allison Feeley, sophomore, Goshen. "It makes me want to be a rock star and puts me in a good mood."

Exercising on a regular basis is important in order for students to be healthy as well as feel good about themselves. So next time you are debating going to the gym, grab your I-Pod, put on your favorite song and rock out while you work out.
