Everyone has that favorite celebrity that they just can't get enough of. So when celebrities get together, spectators can barely contain themselves, knowing disaster might not be far behind.

Celebrity relationships usually have such a short shelf life that spectators thrive on the make-ups and breakups.

For the U.S., celebrities are our royalty. England has the Queen, and the rest of the royal family. In America, we have TomKat and Brangelina; top celebrity couples names are now blended when they are being discussed.

"Celebrity gossip is my guilty pleasure. I can't help but read it, gossip is just addicting," said Holly Finneran, sophomore, Glen Ridge, N.J.

It seems that the "baby boom" concept of the 1950's is back. Every week more and more celeb's are giving birth or announcing their expecting a little one.

"It seems that every other celebrity is pregnant or has just had a baby," said Colleen Cashman, sophomore, Bridgeport.

"What they name their kids is always amusing. Some of the names are ridiculous," said Cashman.

Every week the public is able to read about celebrities, from make-ups and breakups to who's fighting and being unfaithful. These tabloids and weekly gossip magazines have begun to crowd news stands across America.

The recent breakup of pop couple, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey, was a shock for some, especially after the major success of their MTV reality show, "Newlyweds." Granted, Simpson's ditzy behavior, Lachey seemed to be enamored with her.

When the worldly worshipped celebrity couple, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, broke up, everyone was shocked. They were "the perfect couple." When Pitt got together with Angelina Jolie after filming "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" together, it came as a bit of a shock, especially to the Brad and Jen fans.

After Jolie announced that she was pregnant with Pitt's child, the gossip mill started spinning out of control. Like other celebrity couples before them, the questions started, doubting if they were really together or if it was another publicity stunt, like so many other celebrities pull.

"They seem happy together, but you always wonder if it's for real," said Christine Palumbo, freshman, Cedar Grove, N.J.

Another celeb relationship that has been under public scrutiny since its birth is Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. These two have become affectionately referred to by the media as 'TomKat', and like Brangelina and Bennifer before them, they've created quite a stir.

Holmes' has even been reported to be converting to Cruise's religion, Scientology, which her Catholic family was not pleased about.

The recent announcement of suspicions of the end of TomKat, was denied by both Holmes' and Cruise's publicists. However as for the outcome of their union, we will follow the gossip closer than a stalker on its mark.
