The red-painted faces, blow-up number one fingers and Pioneer-colored tee shirts that consumed the seats of the Pitt Center this past Saturday gave an exciting feeling to "Pack the Pitt Day", but Luke Granato and Kibwe Trim made the event down right electrifying.

A new campus record 1,808 students and Pioneer fans watched the Sacred Heart men's hoops squad dish St. Francis its seventh conference loss en route to a 65-54 victory.

Granato, a red-shirt sophomore, missed most of last season with a devastating foot injury and showed Saturday that any long term effects of the blow are not getting in the way of his sweet shooting touch. The 6-6 guard drilled 7 three pointers, which contributed to his career high 25 points in 25 minutes of play.

With the sixth man's health, the Pioneers have a consistent outside threat necessary to win big contests down the stretch and into the NEC tournament that they lacked last campaign. Kibwe Trim has stepped up his play this season as well. Trim was just honored as the Northeast Conference Player of the Week, and rightfully so, since the 6-10 center leads the NEC in scoring and field goal percentage.

The Pioneers will take their 6-2 conference record on the road this week when they match up against Fairleigh Dickinson and Long Island University. There are nine conference games left on the schedule and qualifying for the tournament doesn't seem like such a long shot.

Those who packed the Pitt noticed that those long shots don't phase Granato one bit.
