Forget the breaking news of Britney Spears new reality TV show because there's something much bigger in this celebrity's life. The pop star is pregnant! The 23-year-old singer has just released the news on her website that she and husband, Kevin Federline are expecting their first child together.
Reports surfaced last weekend that Spears was in the hospital. "I just want everyone to know that all is well. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers," said the singer.
Federline has two children from a previous relationship with ex-lover Shar Jackson: two year old daughter Kori and eight month old Kaleb. Federline split with Jackson while she was still pregnant and Jackson believes that the "Oops, I Did It Again" singer doesn't have enough experience with children. While Spears see step-daughter Kori quite often, she rarely gets to visit with Kaleb.
"It's good for her to be pregnant. It's time for her to grow up. I think she'll be a good role model and a really hot mom," said Derek Wells, a senior from Eastport, NY.
In addition, Spears's publicist accidentally revealed the gender of her baby. When journalists phoned Spears spokespeople to find out if the star was ok following an alleged health scare, publicist Leslie Sloan said, "She's ok. Mother and daughter are doing fine."
Spears has also decided that the name of her child. Following the Hollywood crazy baby trend (i.e. Gwyenth Paltrow's daughter apple), Spears's child will be named Soul, sparking yet another series of jokes from the media.
Tessa Cleveland, a sophomore from Lyndell, PA said, "I noticed she was getting frumpy, no wonder she's pregnant, but I can't believe that name! It is absolutely ridiculous."
Sorry all Britney fans but her music is being put on hold during the pregnancy. Spears previously planned to release her fifth CD over the summer but the album's street date will most likely be pushed back.
Perhaps, Spears needs a break from the music industry since her last CD, "My Prerogative" only sold 1 million copies, mediocre by the pop star's usual standards.
Spears is also planning to sell her first baby photos to the highest bidder, as she did with her wedding photos. "Britney has always been very savvy about her image. She profits off her image. She's worth thousands of dollars every time she steps out of the house," writes
