"Desperate Housewives" has been a huge hit for ABC. Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Nicolette Sheriden, Felicity Huffman, and Eva Longaria have transformed America's view of housewives. The group has amazing chemistry on camera but are apparently divas off screen.
"You wouldn't believe what it took just to get this photo!" exclaims the Vanity Fair cover.
The photo shoot was overseen by an ABC executive who had to make sure that Teri Hatcher wasn't placed in the center of any photograph or that she didn't choose her wardrobe first. Apparently the other cast members feel easily neglected or less important if Hatcher gets anything over or before them.
The organizers of the shoot and the stylist didn't follow orders not to give Hatcher first pick for anything. Hatcher had talked to the stylist days in advance to discuss wardrobe and she was the first one to choose her bathing suit for the poolside shoot. Longoria immediately started reporting problems to the ABC representative. Next, when the ladies were lined up for the shoot Marcia Cross's mood turned sour when Hatcher was placed next to her in the center of the shot.
The initial tension of the group stems from media attention. Out of the five women who star in the show, Hatcher has been getting the most media blitz. The other "housewives" tend to feel that the attention is misdirected and unnecessary.
