Maybe you know him, maybe you don't, but Mike Fazzino has probably impacted you in some way.

Have you ever been to a comedian in the outpost? Gone to a movie on campus? Gotten a ONE campaign e-mail?

Fazzino is a sophomore with a long list of accomplishments. He is the entertainment committee chair for SET, president of the Sacred Heart chapter of the ONE campaign, a peer mentor and an active member of Habitat for Humanity.

"I have known Mike since his first semester freshman year. He is extremely hardworking and always willing to help others. He puts others before himself and he's a lot of fun," said senior Kelly Linskey, Vice President of SET.

"He's accomplished so much in the short time he's been here, we expect to see a lot more great things from him."

Fazzino is almost single-handedly responsible for making Sacred Heart the number one college on the list of schools who take part in the ONE campaign.

The ONE main Web site states, "ONE is Americans of all beliefs and every walk of life - united as ONE - to help make poverty history. As ONE, we are raising public awareness about the issues of global poverty, hunger, disease and efforts to fight such problems in the world's poorest countries."

As president, Fazzino has led Sacred Heart to the number one spot of colleges and universities making an effort to support ONE's cause.

"I think that I have the ability to help people by giving back and I have the time and resources to do that at SHU," said Fazzino.

As the entertainment chair for SET, it is Fazzino's job to bring movies and comedians to campus.

"He's a phenomenal guy that works very hard to bring great comedians and movies to our campus that everyone enjoys. I think a lot of people would drop anything to help him," said junior Katie Lopes, charity committee chair for SET.

"He's a good person. It's amazing that he has time to do everything he does."

Fazzino believes that there are a few keys to success, and being motivated is one of them.

"Planning ahead helps me to manage my time. It helps that I can see how effective my efforts can be by watching students come together, especially in the ONE campaign. It's good to see so many people taking the time to give back, it keeps me motivated," said Fazzino.

Fazzino also helped to implement the Swipe for the Hungry program, where students use their extra meal points to feed the hungry.

"I really want to develop Swipe for the Hungry. I think it's a great program and I would love to see it take off in future semesters," said Fazzino.

Fazzino hopes to see himself in politics or a business setting where he can continue to reach out to the less fortunate.

"My role model is Abraham Lincoln, because he was intelligent and overcame a lot of adversity in the face of a lot of failure. I hope to continue to help people in whatever I end up doing," said Fazzino.

"I think that Mike will be incredibly successful in anything he does. He is very hardworking and always puts forth his best effort. I think he will continue to make a difference," said sophomore Kalani Efstathiou, the athletics chair for SET.

Fazzino continues to be active in the Sacred Heart community and believes that anyone can make a difference.
